Meet the 2023 Cast

Cindy

The lead of the Luminosa directing team, Cindy focuses on GE and choreography. She is part of Luminosa’s founders and has been it’s Director since the birth in 2011. Cindy was inducted into the NECGC Hall of Fame in 2015. She has also marched and directed many successful guards including The Saints, Renaissance, Marcus Whitman, Enthrone, Effervescence, Champagne, Batavia High School, and UB’s Thunder of the East.

George

Joann

As part of the directing team, Joann specializes in GE and works with anything Administration and Fundraising. Joann was inducted into the NECGC Hall of Fame in 2010 and is currently the NECGC Vice President. Outside of Luminosa, Joann started the Lancaster Winterguard program in 2005 with Sandy Damiani and has been on the Lancaster Marching Band staff for over 25 years.

Nick

Nick is excited to return to the Luminosa family, as a performer and part of the design team. Nick started spinning as a senior at CNS because of a dare. Since then he has spun with Patriots, Brigadiers, and of course, Luminosa. Guard has been his life for the past 20 years and still loves every time he’s on the floor or designing a show.

Sandy

Sandy’s love of colorguard started in 1983 when she started marching with Renaissance Winterguard. Over the years she has marched with and instructed many programs. She was inducted into the NECGC Hall of fame in 2011 and is currently the NECGC Treasurer. This season, Sandy is part of the show design team and specializes in equipment technique.

Shari

Shari is the dance specialist and is one of the founders of Luminosa, along with her sister Cindy. In 2020, Shari was a featured member as the role of Juno. She doesn’t like to admit it but she’s great at sabre.  Shari was inducted into the NECGC Hall of Fame in 2016.

Traci

Traci is excited to return to Luminosa, this year as part of the staff! Traci has spun with Magic of Scout House, Effervescence, Critical Acclaim and, Orchard Park High School. She has also marched with White Sabers where she won A Class Champions in 2013 and 2014. Traci is currently the director of Orchard Park winterguard and is a special education teacher specializing in science and math.

Alice

Brooke

This is Brooke’s 12th year of spinning. Starting is 2011 with Jamestown Caboose, she spent 10 amazing years with the Jamestown Winterguard program and won State Championships with the JHS Marching Band in 2014, 2017, and 2018. After graduating high school, Brooke joined Luminosa for the inaugural 2020 season. She is now going to school to pursue her love for cosmetology.

Casey

Casey has been in guard since high school. Spinning in the non-competitive Depew Marching Band she fell in love with flag. This is Casey’s 4th season in winterguard, 3rd with Luminosa. She also has danced for 16 years and recently started learning trapeze and aerial hoop.

Alivia

Emerson

This is Emerson’s second season with Luminosa. They join us after 2 years with Sapphire Winterguard at Geneseo and 2 seasons with LeRoy Winterguard. Emerson also marched with the LeRoy Marching Knights for 7 years. They proudly say they are “flag line for life!”

Erica

Originally from the Mid York Circuit, Erica is spinning with Luminosa for her third season. Erica started her colorguard adventures with Central Square High School’s winterguard. Since moving to Buffalo, she has spun with UB Winterguard, UB Marching Band, White Sabers Drum Corps, Magic of Scout House Winterguard and Emanon World WGI Winterguard. Outside of guard Erica is a music teacher.

Chelsea

Chelsea is a founding member of Luminosa from 2011, and was part of the 2013 IA World Champion team. We are delighted for her to be returning for her 6th season, 9th overall. Prior to Luminosa, Chelsea spun with the Jamestown Winterguard program. Outside of guard, she is a mother of twins and a special education aide.

Jehn

Jodie

Jodie started spinning in 1982 with the Hinsdale Starliners. She has been a WGI World Finalist with the Hinsdale Headliners in 1985 and Alliance of Miami in 1992 and a DCI world finalist in 1990 with Dutch Boy DBC. Jodie has also instructed multiple groups around Central New York including Hinsdale Headliners where her daughter currently marches.

Lauren

Originally from the Mid-York Colorguard Circuit, Lauren comes to Luminosa, for her second season, with 7 years of winterguard experience from the Union-Endicott Winterguard. Since 2020, she frequently films herself spinning for social media. Outside of guard Lauren hosts a podcast about Abba and was once voted “Person You’d Most Want to be Stranded on a Deserted Island With.”

Lexi

Lexi has been spinning since 2013, at the age of 12, and has performed in 14 seasons. She has marched with Lancaster High School, Lancaster Independent and now Luminosa. She was State Champion with the Lancaster High School Marching band in 2014 as well as a WGI finalist in 2017 with Lancaster Independent. She has also assisted with the Lancaster High School Winterguard and CSAT Winterguard.

Moira

After 3 years of photographing performers at NECGC shows, Moira is excited to be back on the floor with Luminosa for a third season. Before Luminosa, they spun with Lancaster High School and Lancaster Independent and have far too many years of dance under their belt. Outside of guard, they are a graphic designer and joined The Cavaliers DBC for their 2021 tour as a photographer.

Rachel

After seven years spinning with Jamestown Expressions and Express, this is Rachel’s second year with Luminosa. Her favorite piece of equipment is rifle. Rachel enjoys cooking for her friends and puts her culinary degree to use at a local Jamestown cafe.

Salvatore

Salvatore is proud to be joining the Luminosa team this year. Previously he has spun 4 seasons with Lancaster Independent and Lancaster High School. Salvatore holds a BA in Dance and Communications from Buff State College and has aspirations of becoming a professional choreographer in the future.

Stephen

Stephen is excited to be back with everyone at Luminosa for a second amazing season. They previously spun with Lancaster Independent for three years and learned how to spin with a broom! They are currently in school for mechanical engineering and live with two precious pitbulls.
